Mystery of the Month: Ignore the Pain

Sara Almquist couldn’t say no when invited to be the epidemiologist on a public health mission to Bolivia. Soon she finds dangers lurk around every corner of the Witches’ Market and churches of La Paz as someone from her past pursues her. Unfortunately, she can’t decide which of her colleagues to trust as she learns more than she ever wanted to know about coca production, the god Tio of the silver mines of PotosĂ, and Bolivian politicians.

Review Blurbs: Hooray, Greger has brought Sara Almquist back in Ignore the Pain and thrust her into one danger after another in La Paz, Bolivia. Bold writing, wonderful descriptions of people and places, and heart-pounding adventure. --F. M. Meredith, author of Dangerous Impulses JL Greger creates the most intriguing characters and infuses them with purpose and quick minds. A must read! --Walter Luce, Real Estate Developer

    1. John,
One of the many things I enjoy about my blog is featuring books in the mystery/suspense genre. Not necessarily a recommendation because we all have different tastes but more the opportunity to expose my readers to new (to them) authors and their books. Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Thanks. Here's John Lindermuth's comments on the book (from his Amazon review) "Fans of suspense, unique locations, science and even romance will find something to like in this novel."

I will admit it's not a cozy mystery. It's a thriller with a middle aged heroine.

  7. Since I don't get to travel much, I really appreciate novels with an interesting, unusual or exotic setting. This mystery appeals strongly to me. Best wishes!

  8. Jacqueline, I love the stories in fiction but like to learn something. That's why I insert tidbits about the culture, public health problems, and politics of Bolivia in Ignore the Pain. You'll see Bolivia from the perspective of consultant not the average tourist.
